339BC Socrates:- Extract hemlock poison.

700AD Chinese:- Used fingerprints in order to establish identity of the documents and the clay sculptures, but without any classification system.

1248 Sung Tzu:- Chinese book named “Hsi Duan Yu” (the washing away of wrongs) description how to distinguish drowning from strangulation. Firstly recorded application of medical knowledge to the solution of crime

1813 Mathiew Orfila:- Father of modern toxicology. He is also the first to attempt the use of a microscope in the assessment of blood and semen stains.

1821 Mathiew Orfila:- Classify poisons as Irritants, narcotics, narcotic acrids & pureficants.

1828 William nichol:- Invent polarizing light microscope.

1831 Leuchs:- First person who noted the amylase activity in human saliva.

1835 Henry Godward:- First person who used bullet comparison to catch a murderer. He compared bullet on the basis of a visible flaw, which was traced back to a mold.

1836 James Marsh:- Scottish chemist. He was the first person to describe arsenic effect on human body.

1836 Mathiew Orfila:- Firstly extract arsenic from tissues of human body.

1851 Jean Servias Stas:- Chemist. First successful person to identify the vegetable poisons in the body tissues.

1853 Ludwig Teichmann:- Developed the first microscopic crystal test for the hemoglobin using hemin crystals.

1854 Medox:- Developed dry plate photography method.

1856 Sir William Herschel:- British officer. He was working for Indian civil services. Started to use thumb prints on documents. Use as a substitute for written signatures for illiterates.

1862 Vaan  Deen:- Dutch scientist. Developed presumptive test for the blood using guaiac (West Indian shrub).

1863 Schonbein:- scientist. Firstly developed the ability of hemoglobin to oxidise hydrogen peroxide (first presumptive test for blood samples).

1879 Rudolf Virchow:-German pathologist. One of the first to study hair and recognize its limitations.

1883 Alphonse Bertilion:- French police officer. Invented the “manual of anthropometry” using human bodily measurements.

1887 Sir Arthur Conan Doyle:- Published the first book characterizing Sherlock Holmes.

1889 Dr. William Maples:- Anthropologist. Solve case of Sir Nicolas Czar. It is a paternity dispute case and well popular in historical times.

1892 Sir Francis galton:- Published book “fingerprints” first comprehensive book on the nature of fingerprints and their use in solving any criminal case.

1896 Sir Edward Richard Henry:- Developed the first print classification system. He also published classification and uses of fingerprints.

1900 Karl Landsteiner:- Firstly discovered ABO blood group system and was awarded with Nobel Prize for his work in 1930.
